Tina Recommends: Cool Tool – TweetDeck
July 20, 2009 by Tina Forsyth
Filed under Tools & How To
I’ve been dabbling with Twitter these past few months – going a bit hot and cold, some days tweeting like mad and others not at all. Felt like I was missing the boat though, and so I started checking out some tools to enhance my Twitter experience.
Enter TweetDeck - a cool online tool that allows you to organize and view your tweets how YOU like (vs. being restricted by the standard Twitter format.) You can setup groups, track the ‘scoop’ on fav topics, see all your replies/DMs at a glance, use multiple twitter accounts and more… really brought Twitter into a whole new light for me, I daresay I may become addicted now? Yipes!
Check it out and if you’re new to twitter, it may be just the thing to make it worth considering. No longer just the next unproven, shiny new thing on the internet, real businesses are driving real dollars through twitter, and building fabulous relationships to boot!

Setting Up Your ‘I’m Away’ Email

Tech Tip From Tina Forsyth
This is a slight pet peeve of mine, so forgive me if I come across a bit ranty.
I get so annoyed when I continue to receive the same ‘I’m out of the office’ or ‘I’m checking email twice a day’ email every time I send a message to certain people. It becomes just one more thing filling up my inbox, and we all know that we don’t need that!
Don’t get me wrong, I know these emails are important. I do want to know if you are out of the office on vacation or if you only check email at certain times. Then of course I know when to expect a reply.
What annoys me is the fact that I’m getting this same email over and over again, especially when it’s someone I email multiple times a day. To protect the not-so-innocent, notice how I’m refraining from naming names.
So here’s the tech tip. Most of us set up an autoresponder in our email hosting plan. This sends out an email in response to every new email – indiscriminately. The autoresponder isn’t smart enough to know if the same person has sent 10 emails or even 20.
The alternative – much friendlier – is one you can set up using a Gmail account.
Guess what? Gmail is much smarter than your average ordinary email autoresponder. It knows to send out your automated message just once every 4 days to each individual that emails you. Translation? It doesn’t matter how many emails a particular individual sends you in a short space of time, your ‘I’m away’ reply will be sent just once every 4 days. Love it!
How to set this up for yourself?
If you already use Gmail as your main email service, you simply need to turn on the Vacation responder setting. To do this:
- Click ‘Settings’ at top of page. You will be on the ‘General’ tab.
- Page down a bit and you will see the Vacation Responder section
- Put in the message you want to send out and set the Vacation Responder to on
If you don’t use Gmail as your main email service, for example, you collect your email in Outlook, or in webmail or something else, there are a couple of extra steps.
(This is what I do as I’m an Outlook fan, which may make some of you cringe, but hey, it works.)
- Setup a Gmail account for yourself, or if you have one already dust it off.
- Set your regular email account to forward to the Gmail account.
- Repeat the steps above. Forwarding your email on to Gmail causes Gmail to do its job with your ‘I’m away’ message.
Done! Just that easy…and don’t forget to send an email to yourself to test it and make sure it works.

Now Shipping ($35) | 2-CD Set “The Sound of Coaching”
Now Shipping ($347) | 9-CD Series “The Coaching Masteries” both in collaboration with Mentor Coach Barbra Sundquist
Wouldn’t you agree that great coaching, like music, has a special resonance to it? It has a certain timbre and energy and just ‘sounds’ a certain way. Problem is, it continues to be difficult to access a high level of real coaching conversation so seasoned coaches can continue to get better at this thing we call ‘coaching.’
Enter the 2-CD set affectionately called “The Sound of Coaching: What Does Great Coaching Sound Like?” created this summer by Mentor Coach Barbra Sundquist.
The two CDs together contain 130 minutes of recorded coaching conversations plus commentary from Barbra, allowing you to absorb the nuances of one style of masterful coaching, and come to understand why Barbra coached as she did through her commentary after each segment.
After years of service as Certifying Examiner for the International Association of Coaches (IAC) and Certified Mentor Coach, please join me in thanking Barbra for putting herself ‘on the record.’ Barbra, it is a pleasure to bring this project to fruition with you!
Listen to a 6-Minute Excerpt:
The 2-CD set is retailing for $35 on its own. Click here to order a copy for yourself.
Or, if you’ve been following the IAC and its release of the 9 Coaching Masteries, you may also be interested in the Coaching by Example 9-CD Series* we will begin to ship end of November 2007. One mastery at a time, for 9 CDs, you will hear live coaching clips and ‘how to’ nuggets of wisdom to support your pursuit of IAC certification and overall coaching mastery.
For a limited time, the 2-CD set “The Sound of Coaching” is available as our gift when you order the 9-CD Series at $347. Click here to order your set and we will ship your “Sound of Coaching” immediately at no charge.
Barbra has been hailed as a ‘wise gem of a mentor’ ‘clear as a bell with ruthless compassion’ and ‘as elegant a coach as one gets.’
“I wanted to give Barbara and you feedback on the coaching CD. I think it is excellent. It is clear, concise and helpful. I particularly like the fact that Barbara provides insight into why she says and asks what she does following each coaching session. The brevity of her coaching model CCEC is easy to remember and then apply. Thank you for creating the CD.”

Are you Measuring What Matters?
August 7, 2007 by Tina Forsyth

The ‘numbers’ may not be the most exciting aspect of your day to day business activities, but what if measuring could be the catalyst that moves your business to the next level? “Listening” to your numbers will point the way to what you must do next in terms of making more money in less time.
As you build your Multiple Streams business, wouldn’t you like to know the answers to these kinds of questions:
If 1000 people signed up for your Pink Spoon, and 10 bought your ebook, should you work harder on increasing Pink Spoon signups or ebook purchases?
If (out of 2500 people) 1000 bought a $25 product and of those, 8 signed up for one on one coaching but NO ONEbought your $147 product, what should you do?
If you have 2 great months of sales, and then a month of nearly nothing, gasp, what’s going on?
The latest in our family of Multimedia Products, the ‘Measuring What Matters’ Audio CD plus How-To Booklet shows the 5 most important things to measure in your business, how to measure them, and exactly what you can do with this information. In short, it will enable you to focus on what will make the biggest difference to your bottom line, instead of grapsing at straws. (Guessing.)
Included inside:
- A 35-minute audio recording on covering the 5 most important things to measure
- A 30 page How-To Booklet that walks you step-by-step through the entire Metrics process and set up your own Worksheet
- Access to a customizable Excel Spreadsheet format so you can begin implementing immediately
Exercise: If I were to ask you how much money you have earned this year in business, would you be able to answer? Without pulling out a spreadsheet and calculator?
Of the earnings you have, do you know how much is profit? (What is your ‘take-home’ pay?)
Do you know what your most profitable activity or promotion is? If you did, would you repeat it? Please say yes, unless you’re a masochist.
I’ve made a really lovely discovery lately: There’s actually more to celebrate in some coaching businesses than many people like to make out, even the business owners themselves! The persistent effort does pay off.
So whether you use our handy spreadsheet/metrics tool or not…what would it take for you to at least start measuring? You wouldn’t want to break $100K or some other major milestone without knowing, would you?!
“… I have doubled my income (and I was already making 6 figures.)” — Casey Truffo, Head Coach and Founder ‘Be a Wealthy Therapist.”

Surgery Update: All is Well!

Andrea asked me to post a quick update here for everyone on the blog… as some of you know she was scheduled for surgery today (for details on the surgery check out this post).
I just got off the phone with her husband Mike and he said that everything went great. Her surgery was a success, and by early afternoon she was in the recovery room… groggy of course, but feeling pretty good.
Outside of a grumpy sponge bath lady, the hospital staff are great and treating her well… i’m sure Andrea will have them all charmed in no time.
She will be in the hospital for at least a few more days, and then she’ll be resting and recovering for the next 6 weeks at home in Calgary. Mike will be waiting on her hand and foot, right Mike? hehe… I know she was looking forward to some ‘unplugged creative time’ during these few weeks, along with some visits from family and close friends.
A HUGE thanks to everyone who has sent their well wishes and good vibes… On that note, if you care to leave a comment here on the blog for Andrea feel free to do so… she will enjoy hearing from you when she’s back in action i’m sure.
Introducing Two New Audio Products

In keeping with our theme of making meaningful, profitable businesses easier…
In our fervent hopes to give you the tools to be the Sun, rather than blow til you’re blue like the Wind…
We are pleased to introduce two new Audio products which are now shipping around the world:
How Not to Mess Up a Joint Venture, Including a Formula for Sharing the Money
Joint ventures are being solidified among some of the most far-flung, unexpected and fruitful individuals. After all, together we know everything and can do everything we’re meant to do.
Which is why you must know *exactly how* to broach the topic of splitting up the money in joint ventures. Many times, small business owners (you?) won’t even consider potential partnerships because they don’t know how to have ‘THAT conversation.’
Enter a simple formula that depersonalizes that conversation and makes it logical. Suddenly, so many more joint ventures are possible. You wouldn’t agree to help Michaelangelo paint the ceiling without a great set of paintbrushes, would you?
The good news is, the formula isn’t complicated, nor does it require a calculator, really. In fact, I dare say a large portion of the value of the material is from the sheer simplicity and robustness of the formula. We at Multiple Streams of Coaching Income use it several times a week, for ourselves and for clients. It hasn’t ‘failed’ us yet.
Think about it – with the right joint venture partners in place, you really can ensure your success. The trick is how to find the right ones, and then once found, how to negotiate a deal that works. Don’t become one of the many whose joint ventures, once so promising, fell off the tracks because “we couldn’t figure the money out.”
“Wow! what a great layout for the conversation. I love the two stories you tell, it makes it really clear. I just met with a business consultant who wants to use my convening skills within a company and the conversation turned to compensation. I shared this model with him and he loved it. It was right on the mark.”

The Sun and the Wind | Sick of Trying So Hard?
April 20, 2007 by Tina Forsyth
Filed under Beyond..., Meaning..., Online Business
Are you sick of trying so hard? May I ask, “Are You Being the Sun or the Wind?”
Question: “Andrea, when you’re trying to sell something to someone, I know it’s important to communicate with people more than once. I’ve already emailed my newsletter readers with four different offers this month, but they still aren’t buying. What should I write in my next email that will work? I’m tired of pounding them so many times.”
Answer: There are many ways to answer this question, but with thanks to Aesop, I’d like to paraphrase a little story. It may give you a new perspective on this as well as other situations where you feel like you’re trying awfully hard. Play along for just a moment and see if you can find the energy of this little tale:
The Sun and the Wind decided to have a little game. They agreed to prove which one of them was more powerful.
When a man came traveling down the road, they seized their opportunity – they decided to see who could make the man remove his coat, thus proving whether the Sun or the Wind was the more powerful.
The Wind took the challenge and began to blow. He blew as hard as he could at the man, trying to get him to remove his coat.
But the more the wind blew, the more the man clung to his coat and hat, and the wind had to give up.
Next the sun gave it a try and turned up his rays so it began to warm up. As the day grew brighter and the man grew warmer, he naturally found it too hot to keep his coat on and was happy to take it off.
Coming up on a small stream, he even took his shoes and socks off and took a wade before he continued on his journey.
Now with this story as a backdrop, let’s get back to the questions that make this ‘real.’
“How do I stop chasing after customers and get them to try (or buy) my stuff?”
“How do I stop trying so hard to get results?”
As your e-coach for the moment, may I ask:
Between the wind and the sun, which would you rather be, as you pursue the natural, effortless, stress-free growth of your business?
In what way might you be stepping on the gas in your business, only to spin your wheels?
What seems to take an awfully LONG time to do in your business?
How often do you feel as if “I should” or “I must” in your business? When, exactly?
If you could make your own rules, what would you stop doing?
Hint: Whether you feel as though you ‘get’ the idea behind the Sun and the Wind, take your time with it. We’re taking about a shift in the order of a sea change here and it doesn’t usually happen overnight…
Remember: You can’t get anything wrong and you’ll never be completely finished with your work. Post your comments and questions on this topic at this link:

List-Building Action eCourse | Are you ready to simply and easily build your list?
July 10, 2006 by Tina Forsyth
Filed under Money..., Offerings/Activities, Online Business, Tools & How To
People ask us on a very regular basis – What is the most important thing I can do to build my business?
And our answer is always the same:
Build your list and convert it!
In fact we’ve said it so often you can hear the echo in our virtual hallways (build your list… build your list…
)
Your list is the hub of your business, as the people on your list are the ones who become your paying customers and biggest fans. Whether your list is currently big, medium or small, we invite you to pay some focused attention to boosting the size of your list in time for a more lucrative fall.
List-Building Action eCourse: The Top 21+ Ways to Build a Pink Spoon List with Integrity, Maximizing a Coaching Approach.
Each week we will send you a list building ‘tip’ based on proven strategies that we ourselves have used and continue to use to build our own lists. You will then have one week to implement that particular strategy before the next tip arrives. Each tip is specifically designed to be super simple, quick to read and apply immediately to your business.
(Hint: A list size of about 1000 subscribers is a must for any serious business owner working online; Several of our past participants have made tremendous progress towards just that in the first few weeks.)
Prior to attending the Multiple Streams List-Building Workgroup, I was getting a trickle of subscribers.
In just 3 weeks of implementing the strategies covered, I have had over 450 subscribers. These strategies really work.
I recommend this List-Building to anyone who is serious about building a list and their business
Tessa Stowe http://www.attractmoreclientsnaturally.com
The tips include tools and concepts, resources and partners, all with one goal: to support you along the way to your list-building breakthrough.
The upshot is, with this Action based eCourse you will:
> Increase the size of your list…
> Understand the direct relationship of certain activities to certain results, within the online world…
> Shorten the time you spend testing new list-building strategies; use only the ones that work…
> Be introduced to new joint venture possibilities….
> Increase your chances to convert subscribers to paying clients and putting real money in your pockets…
As we like to say in 1-1 coaching sessions:
Don’t think yourself into paralysis…just do. This is not an eCourse about more information, it’s about giving you the structure and regular reminders to take action. So stop training…start completing. No more trying…let’s get going!
What are you waiting for? Your list and potential new clients await, so let’s get started shall we?
If you are a Multiple Streams member or book buyer, use this link to activate registration at the discounted $57 rate:
