Putting Money in Coaches’ Pockets | Part 5
Key #5: There are things your clients want to buy from you, but they can’t, because you aren’t selling them. Yet.
I call these invisible pockets of revenue. When you are a coach offering one-on-one coaching, and not enough clients are buying, I invite you to think of it in a new way.
The old way (which is good, just not all there is) is to think and plan: How do I get more one-on-one clients. Marketing strategies, business plans, all sorts of stuff gets thrown around.
The new way is to ask: What new streams of income can I build, quickly and efficiently, to leverage my existing customer base.

Iam so glad to have signed up for your mini course there could not have been a better time than this. I started my coaching business about 4 month ago and doing my credited certificate.
I need to get more information in how to make money as a coach while Iam working part time to help bring the money in. I do desire to work for myself full time as a coach and say good bye to my boss. Iam getting clients but they are not paying for the full services. The big question stand out to me was ‘WHY’
As I was about to shut down my computer I decided to have a look at some information on ‘How to make money as a coach’ I then came across your article and thought to my self ‘give it a try’ your information challenged me so much that it changed the way I was should think as a coach and put together my own personal goals. Now when Iam dealing with clients I get a sence of joy and excitment coaching people and remind myself about my goals to achieve in the next 6 month. I have also put together some ideas that will get paid clients, there is never a time when my note book and pen never keeps still.
Thank you and keep up the good work
Life Coach and motivational speaker
A good question to end the series. The ability to parlé any product (be
it time or object) into multiple streams is beginning to crystalize in
my thoughts and I might just be able to get on the roll toward greater
financial success without burning too much more midnight oil to do so.
Thanks for the stimulus and the course.
I’ve been coaching for a lot of years solely in my day job as I complete my education. By next year I will have set myself up as one of the premier experts in my field and I will have a long list of recommendations from those I’ve coached. Additionally, I am watching closely for was to capitalize on my knowledge and skills. I’ve only one key left to work on, publishing a few key articles. This series was great. It keeps me inspired to continue toward my goal of being a full time coach/consultant. I hope you’ll continue offering these types of valuable lessons.
Thanks Dear Andrea for your very kind sharing. Your key 5 lessons are are so enlightening and timely for me. You are god sent!;-)
I am in the situation similar to Trevor ( thanks Trevor and hi to u) who wrote in the comments. Started to pursue my passion and lifework in Life and Executive Coaching, Inspirational Speaker since i received my Volunteer seperation from a MNC last Nov. It has been almost 9 months, i was in the dilemma and hard on self. I prayed for universe support on guidance and received your wise sharing. Thank you dearly! I now have the confidence that i could still do work that i love ( coaching and speaker) by being innovative and flexible in some ideas like you shared…get a day job which i can contribute along the line of coaching. At meantime, being creative on my other coaching niches. Thanks so much Andrea you show me the light. God bless you and all abundantly.

I am currently in the process of increasing my knowledge on how to market my services through technology and in person. It has been helpful for me to put together a ‘spreadsheet’ outlining my marketing plan. This plan includes products that can both build my email list and produce more sales directly and indirectly. I am making progress with this but I get a little overwhelmed with which products to offer first and which products to offer for free. I find taking it one step at a time is helping me move toward those answers and believe that when I get to that point in my marketing plan I will have the answers I need. This 5 part course has been helpful in reminding me about the basics in building my business. Thank you
Andrea: When the student is ready the teacher appears. I’ve been keeping my eyes open for the past few months, watching for the right teacher. You don’t have to convince me that “multiple streams” is the right way to go! My mission is to continue to coach (with all its wonderful implications!) and to continue to make myself and my family top priorities. You have provided the tools to make that possible and your writing style is brilliant. I’m halfway through your book and SO excited about getting started on creating multiple sources of coaching income.
I particularly like the idea of creating additional streams of revenue “quickly and efficiently”. Just last night I was working with a client who has convinced herself that LIFE IS A STRUGGLE. I guided her through a session of EFT which allowed her to release the feeling of depression and we’ll continue to address her very limiting belief. I’m so grateful that she arrived “on my doorstep”. Not only was I able to help her, but her issue served to remind me to avoid falling into the same trap myself.
Thanks for this series Andrea, and for the obvious love you pour into your work.
After studying the messages in your course, I am feeling empowered.
I now see a whole new avenue of opportunities to move my coaching from the ‘tunnel-vision’ view I had to the variety of formats my ideal clients are hungry for.
My actions to grow my Multiple Streams are:
1. Re-read Multiple Streams of Coaching Income and perform all the exercises.
2. Select and implement formats and strategies that feel the best right now.
3. Embrace a day job as an opportunity to accelerate my coaching business to the productive, abundant entity that it is.
And, I’ll be sharing this mini-course with several of my Coach peers.
Thank you for showing us the way.

Loved this mini-course…not just for the content but for the fabulous MODEL of the content that it is. The possibilities for multiple streams expand so greatly with the “baker” metaphor. Thanks so much. I’m off to make breadcrumbs:)
I am so glad I took the opportunity to complete this mini course, it has really opened my eyes.
I have always know that I was meant for far greater things more than just what I was doing…going to work in corporate world and living pay cheque to pay cheque. From a child I have always loved/obsessed reading about the great people of this world and what they have done and how they did it… I just identified with them (I always remember borrowing a book in elemetary school, taking it home and reading about all these great people and I kept it for days before I returned it….I borrowed many books to read but that one has always stuck with me.) Whenever I read the news paper it was always on some counselling or advise column that I read. These days my book self is packed with books from Norma Vincent Peele, John Maxwell, John Canfield, Louse Hay…and the list goes on.
The articles and magazines that always catch my attention first has to do with self development and growth.
I got involved with Real Estate Sales and MLM but I had a problem selling but I stayed for years because of the training….I just couldnt get enough.
This mini e-course just tied it together for me in so many ways:
1) I felt I was meant to teach but I didnt feel it was traditional academic
2) I felt I was meant to counsel but not not in the traditional “couch psychology” fashion
3) I felt I was meant to research but not in the traditional research for thesis and academia
4) I felt I had something to tell because of all the negative experience I had in my childhood, teen years and young adult life and how I overcame, but not in a victim, self-pitying sort of way.
Now I know that I am meant to coach and I can work on getting there while I work full time and be content in my heart I KNOW MY PASSION.
Thanks so sooooooooo much
This is the first time that I have read something that uniquely fit my circumstances. You were inside of head reading my thoughts!
Getting a steady, bread and butter job, is not abandoning my profession. You have challenged me to make the shifts in thinking that yield so much benefit. Creating multiple income streams, you begin by asking clients what they want. You have given me tools, (show me how to fish). Thanks you
Dianne
Dear Andrea,
Thank you for this 5-part series on “Putting Money in Coaches’ Pockets.”
I’ve studied and taught stuff like this for years, always within a spiritual context (I’m a minister). But what’s really refreshing for me is that this course cuts through a lot of what some people think of as obligatory, spiritual rhetoric necessary to justify their desire to have great gobs of money in their lives. Money is neither good nor bad; it’s just a fact of the successful life. And a successful life is necessarily spiritual. It doesn’t need justifying. And I want more!
Cheers,
Richard Imprescia
Hi Richard, thanks for the perspective as a minister. “It doesn’t need justifying.” Very interesting!
Thank you Richard….I have struggled with “spiritual vs material”, however I have come to realize there is no difference one is the manifestation of the other…
Thank you Andrea for this series….it was very enlightening and informative. Especially #5. I have no products to sell although I have had many ideas for products. Over the years my cleints have asked me to record my meditations because they have received so much value from them…they were telling me what they wanted I just was not listening.
Thanks again.
You’re so right, Andrea! So many ideas, so many opportunities in front of my eyes. I’m going for the book writing right now and I’ll see where it takes me. Loved the e-coaching course and its concept of public accountability. Made me reflect, given me a burst of inspiration and now is the time to take some more action. Thank you, Andrea.
I’m very ready for this too. Where I get stymied: I “jam” when I try to think of all the different options I could pursue, such as your email course that we just went through. (I get stuck thinking “But how do you set up the emails, the web page for responses?” Intimidating!) Where does one start? Also, I don’t want to have to generate content all the time. So I look forward to learning more.
