Refugees from Coaching | Do you know someone who is trying to quietly slink away?
The Coaching Day Jobs R&D project has lift off. The first call was Thursday and the recording is now posted for your listening pleasure at www.CoachingDayJobs.com.
My friend Lable bought the domains Coaching Refugees.com but I still feel there is a negative connotation to that so we’ll stick with Coaching Day Jobs.com.
And, well…it’s official. It seems there are a lot of Coaches who are slinking quietly away from the business of building a so-called traditional coaching practice. Lots.
Refugees is not actually a truly pejorative term, however.
As Lable puts it…it’s simply a name for a group of people who are taking the assets they’ve gained from one country, and with them in hand, going to the next place.
The key is in the taking of their current assets.
So some of the questioning and exploring we are doing over at Coaching Day Jobs includes:
- What are the assets a coach brings to a ‘regular’ day job?
- If I want to do both, work a CDJ, AND continue to build my coaching business part time, how can I manage myself best?
- While I am looking for a CDJ, and coaching clients show up, do I say yes or no to the latter and what if later I can’t honor my time commitments? (Catch 22)
- How do I answer the question: ‘So you couldn’t make that coaching thing work, eh?’ (Not limited only to Canadian questioners, by the way.)
and more.
Visit the Coaching Day Jobs website to join the 80 or so souls there who are breathing the fresh air together in this new territory.
And please help spread the word. Please. There is nothing wrong with concentrating on embodying coaching with a small ‘c’ and detaching from the expectations of being a Coach with a capital ‘C.’
