Leadership/Followship
by admin
Reading about leadership lately has made me think about followship. You could say it ‘followed’ that my thoughts would lead in that direction.
Followship? Meaning the position of a follower, or the capacity or ability to follow.
It takes followship/followers to make a leader. And, I think it takes a good sense of how to follow, when to follow, and who to follow, to make a truly good leader.
In fact, I would say that the ability to distinguish between when to lead and when to follow is an important trait of leadership.
Following this line of thinking (!?) I’m looking for reading about following. How to be a good follower, and so on, but there doesn’t seem to be much.
It seems to me though, that knowing how to be a good follower is underrated, and that getting good at it also means learning how to receive.
Have you ever noticed how few people really know how to receive…anything?
From a compliment, advice, help, even love. When was the last time you really received something without your ego getting in the way in some sort of slightly or completely defensive manner?
I’ve opened a new blog for personal use, for a new book, tentatively slated for release next February/March. I don’t know the topic yet but I’m blogging out ideas.
On the mischievious side is…”Followship of the Rings”. Catchy, ain’t it?
