Why I’m thinking about Dentists…

by admin

I think I’ve thought more about dentists in the last 6 months than in my whole life…

For two reasons.

One, that darned Chris Barrow. He’s one of EggVille’s newest clients, and he built his first Million Dollar Coaching Practice in the Dentistry niche.

The second reason is this: I’m considering whitening my teeth.

It’s not that my teeth are bad; they are certainly passable. But it’s an odd thing. I’ve thought more about going to the dentist to whiten my teeth than I EVER have about cavities, periodontal disease, or anything like having a hygienist teach me for the dozenth time how to floss in my middle age.

Now forgive me a moment while I extrapolate and analyze a bit. (I’m told it’s what I’m good at.)

Perhaps it’s being done and I don’t know it, but what if

(1) dentists could check if I had cavities – unobstrusively – while they were prepping to whiten my teeth?

(2) what if they were to tell me before they started whitening that they would be “touching up” my teeth (code for fixing cavities), that it would take just an instant and I wouldn’t feel a thing, AND…

(3) touching up my teeth would allow my teeth whitening to be perfect/last longer.

(I don’t actually know the science behind this, but it strikes me as intuitively true anyway. Chris, any coments?)

Talk about a way to my heart! I would absolutely say yes to the “touching up”, wouldn’t you? And on my subsequent visits to the dentist, having become addicted to my whitened lovelies…I would certainly agree to it again, right?

“Well, I’m here…” I can hear myself thinking.

And yes…the reminder here I suppose is the fact that it’s my **vanity** that has prompted me to consider calling my dentist, not my health. I’m not a crazy anti-health activist, but I’m not a crazed health nut either. I don’t think I’m alone.

Truthfully? I figure that by the time I might need dentures, the technology will exist whereby I’ll be able to replace my teeth and not notice the difference. (We shall see.)

So what could the dentistry profession do to bring me and millions like me, back into the loop and into their offices? Appeal to my vanity for absolute sure!

It’s been said many times before, but here it is again: It will never be good business for any of us to try to sell what people “need” or “should”.

So what can we all be doing to sell what people want, instead?
