About Andrea J. Lee

“Learning is what happens when you (really) don’t know what to do.”
– Andrea J. Lee

andrealee1A signature blend of tenderness and bite…

Andrea is a visionary business and life coach who guides exceptional clients to the success they seek, while championing them to become more and more uniquely themselves.

Her coaching is said to be a blend of tenderness and bite unlike any other, and one of her most celebrated abilities is coining you a metaphor that’s so unexpected it slips under the radar of your biggest blocks. Expect to shorten your learning curve by months, and if you’re willing, even years.

The uninhibited generation of value…

CEO of Thought Partners International, Andrea’s consulting firm is one of the most-trusted brands in the coaching and self-help marketplaces and serves as creative partner to thought leaders representing the best in entertainment, politics, academia, therapy, philanthropy, spirituality and more. As Chief Creative Producer, Andrea identifies ‘isolated assets and connects them in a way that creates value, at the same time that she and her team actually produce the product for delivery.

Beginning in 2009, Thought Partners has been engaged in the significant project of making the work of Thomas Leonard widely accessible. This multiple-product, multiple-market legacy work, when complete, will illuminate and preserve the many contributions of the man known also as the father of modern professional coaching, and with whom Andrea worked closely for two years prior to his death in 2003.

Thought Leadership…

In addition to her ability to evoke and facilitate the best work yet from leading-edge thinkers, Andrea has built a body of work of her own, including the following titles:

Pink Spoon Marketing, Harnessing the Power of the Free Taste to Build and Grow Your Business

Money, Meaning and Beyond, 27 Unexpected Ways to Create What Really Matters

Multiple Streams of Coaching Income, The Future of Coaching Is Now

Thomas Leonard Unplugged: 50 Personal Insights Into the Father of Modern Coaching (spring 2010)

How I Wonder…Thought Leadership in a Noisy World (spring 2010)

Another of her projects involves CoachVille, home of the most comprehensive, established and affordable online training for coaches, and coaching leader Dave Buck, CEO, with whom new breakthroughs around the building of coaching companies are coming…

Regardless of what project she is focused on, her foundational question concerning thought leadership is simple: What can ONLY you do?

From No Shoes to Ocean Views in one generation…

Personally speaking, as you have no doubt noted, Andrea is of Asian descent – first-generation Canadian-born Taiwanese to be exact. A clue to who Andrea is can be found in the fact that though she now lives with her husband on an acreage with Pacific Ocean views, a short generation ago, her Dad got his first pair of shoes at the age of 5. One of her mom’s most vivid memories of childhood was of trying to quiet her baby brother whose crying might give away their hiding place in a ditch during an air raid.

That so much can change in a short span of time is the backdrop to what Andrea knows is possible…almost anything.

Growing up Canadian, Andrea’s experience in business started at age 11 when she helped her Dad sort receipts and enter them by hand into a blue ledger book. As an adult, she stepped into entrepreneurship in 1999 with a recruitment business which soon morphed into what you see on these pages.

The Unlived Life Is Not Worth Examining

Andrea has some fluency in two of the world’s most difficult languages – Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. She was in China during Tiananmen Square, which she thinks is somehow connected to the ease with which she can tell the most confrontive of truths - in a way that has people thanking her afterward. She’s training to do her first adventure race in 2010 and is a trainee of the Feldenkrais(R) method. The latter is her hoped-for ticket out of life as a ‘brain on a stick’ or ‘meatsack.’

Her favorite meal is chez hubby Mike. Freshly-made pesto, spaghettini, and planked salmon on the BBQ dressed with caper butter. Her sins are books and baths, but she hopes to discover some others. She used to have a very bad temper, just ask her two younger brothers. Her work doubles as play; on this, ask her long-time friend and business collaborator Tina Forsyth. She has no kids, so if she looks young to you, that’s probably why.

Oh yes, she has luckily and challengingly (in a good way) been married to Mike Flannery – as likely to be discussing business as lying on their hammocks together – since 1995.

Author Lable Braun acknowledges Andrea in his book ‘In Case of Emergency, Ask Question’:

“The mayor of the village would have to be the wonderful Andrea Lee. For five years she has been the cricket on my shoulder reminding me that I am capable of a bigger voice, and challenging me to go and create it.

When others may have become frustrated at my seeming inability to generate more than a whisper, Andrea was always encouraging me to sing. And when the time came to morph from being an inspiration to being the whirlwind of implementation, Andrea sprang into action.

Andrea has to be experienced to be believed. My wish for everyone who reads this book is that you are fortunate to have an Andrea in your lives.”
